It seems a long time ago now but do you remember the days when there were road works and all you had to do was slow down, keep an eye out for any stray workmen and then go about your business?
It seems increasingly that there is a need for traffic lights and/or if you are really lucky a convoy to make sure we can drive through the roadworks without crashing.
I saw something on the news a while back about people getting close to workmen on the A30 and understand the need for their protection but on small roads do we really need this?
I am pretty sure we coped before we needed our hands held and the added costs of the super new quad cars that we have to follow. Wonder where the money for those came from?
Perhaps I am getting too old and grumpy to be a guide now!

Got a great set of traffic lights on the A377 at the mo. They are there so that the guys/builders working in the field can park their cars, walk 20 odd feet and not get run over at the start/end of day. Best one I have seen!

Nice to see they have shut the road at Witheridge without bothering to tell anyone!

No not really, I think the roadworks they have had there and the ones previously coincide with a shoddy performance from West Ham that I happen to be listening to when I drive through there.
I think it is more like some sort of association trauma!
