Hi all,
hoping to get on a river on Fri and was thinking of heading high. Anyone seen the state of things up on the Moors?

Pete,
Fished the West Dart on Sat. up from the Swincomb to near Prince Hall in a near gale of wind.
The water was up a little but dropping and as usual crystal clear. The recent rain definitely spiced things up.
As usual for me the gale was down stream so resorted to a single spider down and across. Had 5 or 6 to 8" but the wind got me in the end. Not many places I would rather be though.

Hi Pete
Had a very short visit (out for a pint of milk!!) yesterday (Monday) around Hexworthy on the West Dart. Bit of a wind blowing but just about manageable. Picked up 3 or 4 average 7-8 inchers on a dark olive paradun.
Have fun Mark

Hey Pete
Did you manage to head high last week and what did it look like.
Will be possibly fishing Burrator on Monday and then thought I might head for the moors on Tuesday for a spot of river therapy, or maybe Fernworthy - hmmmm choices choices.
Mark

Hi Mark, yes I did. My guest had a dodgy stomach and it looked like we wouldn't fish at all at one stage. We jumped in just upstream of the farm and worked our way up to just past the woods. Small klinks in black did the job although he did get broken by a really nice fish. Had a look for your big fella but no sign!

Was working back up on the Moor today and water was lower than last Fri when I was up there and much lower than the week before that. It meant we had to find deeper pockets with plenty of water flowing in to them and threw size 20 black scruffy klinks in. We saw a really large one of around 13 to 14 inches move a 7 incher out of his spot. It looked like he would hide under a rock and dart out and take what he wanted or he was after a 7 incher for lunch! We covered the area but no luck and then I apologised for the expletive I let out when I first saw him!!
