I managed to fish a river quite close to home that I have not been able to fish before so I knew I might have my work cut out trying to find the fish. The water was perfect for the french leader as it was early morning so I rigged up with a green caddis pupa and a hares ear with purple thorax both with 2.5mm tungsten beads. Half hour, amazing water and no fish.Time for a change. Off came the point fly and on went a black nymph with a heavier 3mm bead.4 casts and into a fish,I had found them. Bigger than usual trout jumping out of the water on the end of my line and putting up one he'll of a fight and the bonus of a couple of grayling. The scenery was perfect. Really enjoying fishing some new places.
