Finally the fish are rising? Caught one a nymph the a rising fish to a John Pearson special kebari. Both out of season grayling but rising never the less! Magic

Had a few on the Hele beat today including a double hook up. Went to see how the bank clearing was going and could not resist a couple of hours fishing.

Popped upto the Tone late afternoon, but blowy and grey by the time I got there.... Stretch I'd not visited before near Holywell Lake.... Fairly tight and intricate fishing... Not much moving but stuck with the dry... Had a couple, missed a couple and spotted a couple of rises by a slightly larger fish sat underneath overhanging bramble briers.... Nice stretch to while away a few hours on a still, muggy evening... Perhaps not the best choice for a cool blowy day...

Out today on new section of tone. Private, not owned or fished by any one else as far as I know! Courtesy of lovely Waitrose customer whose mums cat we adopted! Small wild brownie to nymph on second pool. Water low despite rain. Much more to explore!

Busy weekend, so only chance to get out was this morning, shame as I got back about an hour ago and it's warming up nicely. Went to TFFC Bulland stretch at the ford, first time that far up the Tone.... River already very low, had a couple of small fish in dries, but spotted quite a few laid up not feeding... Could have been decent from mid-afternoon onwards; drove past Hilfrance brook but someone already parked up, so called in upper Bradford... Cattle everywhere with followers, loads in the river, banks a mess.... It's a real shame as it's a lovely stretch to fish, but hardly seems worth it unless the farming improves...

Nynehead weir. Using my own version of the duo. Small polish nymph on point & yellow kebari on dropper. Could not dissuade o/o/s grayling. Four all to the point fly. Splendid early eveningl

All tone men They have been burying a pipe at ash pool. River very muddy downstream & with low flow likely to be so for a few days. Just as weather warms up! Will keep you posted

Explored second half of "secret" tone. Bit like jungle warfare! Sometimes only using top 3 sections of Tenkara rod, sometimes hand lining. Some cover needs to be removed . Long job! May be easier in winter!

Tenkara on the Tone One of those days! Been realising through Paul & Johns e book and the add ons that I have been " dabbling " in Tenkara . Took out my oni one rod with a JP kebari. Out of frustration finally put on light copper head nymph. Still nothing! At last pool b4 work a fish was rising! Put kebari back on & missed four takes! In my fishing jacket the alarm was buzzing for work. Finally a fish took the kebari: a decent out of season grayling ! A very special fish!

Sun & son Fished my special secret place with my first born, now a big second row/no8 with a big heart. Not the easiest of fishing. Two wbt's one each. Father's Day a week early! Splendid M

Not the Tone but used to be a West Country rivers beat. Fished the Dairy house beat yesterday.John Aplin with usual warm welcome. No fish rising so nymph it was! Spotted two large wbt near bridge to carrier. Scared one by bad cast which hit him on the head! Is concussion the" new" fly? Lunch then increasing cloud with sporadic downpour! Not ideal. Broke my duck with feisty grayling above fishermans hut. Fished on in heavy rain till thoroughly soaked! As we were on our way back from holiday had dry if smelly change of clothes. Called it a day about four. Very pleased with only my second outing to dairy house. Staying in annexe in July . M
