Thanks men. We usually have enough but you can never have too many. Just got some nice footage of the spawning. There are more fish than ever there. They must be getting the scent and swimming up from below. The pair of larger fish are cock and hen sea trout both in excess of 3lb. The cock in working so hard to keep the others away he may not have the strength to complete the deed. Just below the railings on the foliage there are the remains of a nice fish half eaten by an otter. I will try this evening to put some pictures up. Colin.

Hi Colin,
I had offered to come along and help and would love to do so but....
We are exchanging present with herself's family at Stourhead on Sunday (they are over in Southsea).
Your post was a wonderful opportunity to let herself do the necessary and for me to escape. (herself is wonderful- 48 years and counting- but her family....)
Then disaster struck! Our electric garage door came off its tracks and is stuck closed with both cars within! This happened at 6pm. How many garage door companies are open at 6pm on a Friday in December?
I doubt I will have a car on Sunday. Even worse, I may have the relatives here rather than being able to exit Stourhead just after lunchtime!
Sorry, next time!
In desperation, after six outing on the rivers all of which were complete blanks, I had taken myself off to a small still water for a bit of therapy. In a five hour session, I caught one (very expensive) fish and watched the guy next door bag up with five in half an hour. So I was somewhat chastened as I returned home. Confidence is at a low ebb- wetsuit and trident have been ordered from Santa!!!! Is there always a silver lining?
Yes, I had taken the fish out of the boot before (permanently) closing the garage!
Cheers,, Paul
