Anyone been up on either branch yet? I'm at Postbridge / Bellever for work for a few hours tomorrow, so I could possibly start early and knock off at 2'ish, so wondering if anythings been moving up there are whether it's still a bit early?

I've been up on the Moors a couple of times already but not those exact spots. Just spoke to JB who said a pal had been fishing Bellever and Cherry at the weekend and said it was hard going.
Would be rude not to have a go while you're there tho!

Yeah very tempting, but it's hard enough early season as it is, maybe still a bit too cold for E/W Dart.... I'll see how the weather is doing and either fish there or head back to east Devon and fish.. Tis tempting though as it's a stunning spot and I'll be parked in the FC riverside car park at Bellever.... I suppose another way of looking at it would be I may catch the river when it first kicks into action

Is always worth a go we have had a few more days with constant temps rather than those dips we were seeing recently. I'm sure that will help too.
I've been catching some on dries up there and we even fished big mayfly emergers to bring em up when the river was big weekend before last. I always subscribe to the "give em a 1/4 pounder" when there is little happening at the surface!

I've,e had two trips on the West dart, Dunnabridge and up river fron the Dartmoor training centre and one go on the East dart at Belliver. I seemed to have picked very bright days with a cold wind but I have been surprised by the lack of fish spotted as both rivers were running gin clear.
I,ve been fishing these two rivers for many years and dont really expect too many fish at this time of year but this year I have struggled. One fish on a small black beaded nymph so far. I witnessed a really good hatch of LDO,s on the Blackbrook last week but not a fish to be seen.
Roll on some warmer weather.

Thanks Terry, looking at the forecast it's likely to be 3C warmer off the moor, so may drop back over to east Devon and fish there, seems a shame when I am already on the moor but 13C compared to 9-10 could make a difference... Certainly more pleasant to fish in!

Decided to head off the moor, East Dart at Bellever looked great but couldn't spot a single fish so another time further into the season... So scooted over to a carrier on the Frome... Nice and warm but a killer downstream wind, I'd guess 30 mph for much of the afternoon, which in some of the tighter confines and bankside willow was challenging... Winkled two out in the dry... Nymph would have been more productive and easier to cast in the wind, but the sun was out and I fancied staying on dry...

Had a crack at the West Dart at Prince Hall yesterday, fished all the way to Two Bridges with a short detour up the Lower Blackabrook. Very low and clear, plus a downstream breeze made it hard going but I picked up a few modest little fish on Black Klinkhamer and Elk Hair Caddis. Lost the best one which hooked itself in a shallow run when I wasn't paying attention... Anyone else been on the Moor recently?
