Had my first day on the Taw yesterday ... wonderful! Managed to catch my first (ever) river Brown Trout, plus one more. Just the 2 fish landed but i'm not all that bothered as I had a great day and learned absolutely loads. Hopefully this will be the first of many days on the CFFC waters, and beyond, and my catch rate will improve . I was beaming from ear to ear all evening, what a great day. Small but perfectly formed ...

Well done Pusser. On your own flies ? There is no going back now . Colin. When the weather improves come over and have a play on the Otter.

Oh your in trouble now. Soon you'll find yourself stopping at every bridge you cross, peering into the water trying to see a rising fish. Bitten by the river bug.
Good angling to get any fish out at all. Be very proud of yourself.

When the weather improves come over and have a play on the Otter. Be careful Colin as i'm likely to take you up on that offer in a heartbeat!

Many congrats pusser, hard to believe that something so exquisite is swimming about in our rivers, and we have the privileged chance to coax it into our world so we can look at it. Plus it takes you to such beautiful places.

I don't know where you're heading pusser but driving the lanes around Yeoford today I saw quite a few hawthorn flies, might be nothing but you never know.

Well, I blanked today. The word for the day was 'frustration'.
Saw lots of hatches going off, predominately olives, but only 4 or 5 fish rising all day. I did see a few mayfly but not more than about 10.
Also paid my dues to the foliage and tree gods in the form of fly sacrifices.
Not to worry, it was lovely to walk the river and cast my line and the weather was great. Maybe next time.

Always good to be out Pusser, we've had family commitments all day so no fishing.... It's definitely a step up in line control heading out onto a small river, certainly in terms of losing flies... You'll lose less and less with practice, but I reckon however good you get if you don't lose the odd one your probably not working the tight spots... All great fun

Not much rising on the Yeo today either pusser, strange considering the amount of fly life, perhaps the lack of water means the fish are taking a break? Anyway very difficult day and I know every inch of my local stretch, as you say " maybe nextime".
