Well it's not too far off and I'm beginning to work out wee ideas for next Season.
I've determined that I need to improve on my minnow West Country Grayling so a real effort to be made back end on finding some water. Last years efforts on the Severn in Wales could have eaten my single Tone offering.
Apart from that I'll be trying to correct the horrible state of affairs of blanking twice at Crowdy Reservoir in Cornwall, I am still a bit skeptical if all the past Rainbow Stocking has not left this water devoid of the humble Brown Trout - still have to see anything rise there. It would be real shame as the water seems to scream wee moorland brownies .
I'm going to concentrate on some estuary fishing as this proved great fun and quite productive, I just don't believe the adage that Seatrout and Salmon don't take well in Salt water anymore. I managed to hook and land more Tourists this year from the salt than any other water.
I'll have my usual moorland walks and plan a wee bit of very small stream fishing - the Bandies should get very worried. I'm interested in trying out the technique of using the top section of a fly rod with reel in the pocket and see if I can persuade a 10year old wee brownie to grab my flies .
As usual I will make several pilgrimages to the Land of the Free North of the border where vast stretches of water await me for free and hours of endless fun.
Wales is looking good for a grayling Day or two but I'll have to go some to match last years Fish - I've got to try so that I can get a photo this time.
What's your planned pois(s)on for 2009.
