In the tourist info office in Lynton or the pub at Rockford.
I've been going down at least once a year from Bristol for over 20 years and I never tire of the place. It's magical.
Avoid the holidays though. Apri/May/June weekday best.

Lovely pics JJO and nice fish!
I can't think of many places where you can fish with the sea as your back drop.

I'm sure I've already bored you with this Pete, but the first time I ever fished there, I arrived at the fisherman's car park, up above the the overflow pool to tackle up just as a local was arriving back with a fish. He slapped a grilse of about 6lb on the roof of his little clio van which was the freshest fish I've ever seen. It had a blueish sheen to the silver, snow white belly and was as solid as a torpedo...

Hi Jon, great pics.
I have never fished it either, it looks fantastic though so need to make amends. Is that your ev rod? I,m a huge fan of David Norwich and have two of his rods, shame he has retired.

Hi Terry,
It will be a real treat to visit it for the first time Terry. Make sure you visit after the NT tea rooms at Watersmeet are open (April onwards I think). It's the perfect mid morning stop off.
Yes, it's a Norwich. Sadly no longer with me as it fell victim to a tackle cull when we moved house. It was a lovely rod.
Best

Here's a typical Lyn trout (for me anyway...) They fight like tigers

Thanks for these pictures. I still miss the Lyn, it really is a little gem. The fresh salmon and grilse from it always had that pale blue colour. I don't think I ever saw that local guy with the van without a fish (or two)! Anyway here's a younger Barleblanker with a couple of blue/silver May Lyn springers - those were the days! Andy

On the subject of Lyn springers, I think some of the most exciting moments I can remember in fishing were standing on a high vantage point over Vellacotts or the Overflow and straining my eyes to see salmon drift in and out of the white water like ghosts. Whoever painted those white lines new exactly what they were doing...
