Opening day for the Taw was a few fresh fish seen lower down the river and a kelt caught and released also lower down.

Pete is that Eggesford Bridge (if that is what the bridge at Eggesford is called) in your first pic. What sort of numbers of spring salmon have come off up there in recent years?

Hey I've just noticed that I am no longer a "New Member" but that I have hatched and now I'm classed as an "Alevin" ;D Next stage is parr I guess, best keep a look out for the herons then Andy

Andy, you are right it is Eggesford Bridge. I don't have any numbers but the last few seasons just above here at Chenson it has been a good spot for an early one. The third picture I posted up was just downstream of the bridge at Chenson. I also believe just downstream of Eggesford around the Rashleigh Weir area early fish have been caught last few years. I'm just off down to Eggesford Bridge to have a quick look....
