The river Tresillian flows to the sea under the A390 just before you get to Truro. Allegedly it has a run of sea trout and salmon but there was no evidence of that the day I fished it in May with the river appearing reasonably low but carrying a touch of colour. This meant I could get on with job in hand, getting to know the local brown trout without any silvery distractions. The river was much like a 1/2 sized version of my local, the Little River Avon, but even in the thin riffles there were trout in almost plague-like numbers. With every step upstream half a dozen 4"ers would dart away to the nearest deeper pocket. The most fishy looking spot, a weir halfway up the beat yielded nothing but it was obviously the place where given the right conditions the peal would favour. Interesting the majority of fish came from slacker water in amongst the riffles, maybe only 6" to 1' square spots with slightly less movement. Ended up with 9 fish to nymphs under an indicator, 1 on a black lure (tied in readiness for Roadford) and 3 on a small black klink. The smallest fish pictured was about the average size, the biggest (also pictured) was the biggest by a margin. It was a hot day but beautifully cool in the river. Loads of midge and sedge, the odd damsel and a handful of small olives.
