I had a lovely few hours on the Barle (DAA Percy's beat). It is a pretty stretch of water with plenty of interesting little sections. I managed to catch 4 WBT (1 at around 10" and the others between 4 - 6"). The weather was quite nice and the river has a fair old flow to it, the wading stick earned it's money again! All fish fell to a gold head PTN with peacock herl thorax, beneath a dry. 1 of them was even caught downstream by accident! I'm really starting to feel like I'm getting better at fly fishing; my casting confidence is growing along with casting rhythm and I'm learning 'how' to fish certain sections. No fish pictures from this morning but I thought I'd share a couple of shots of the beat itself...

Good for you Pusser, one thing is certain, the more you fish the more you automatically make decisions about where to place the fly, from what angle, how to mend the line etc... The strange thing is if somebody was to stop you and ask why you fished the pool the way you did you probably couldn't tell them( well I couldn't) "it just felt right given the conditions " isn't what they want to hear!! This is the skill of the pro guide I suppose, being able to verbalize these feelings.

I think I may have to join DAA next year. I joined last year and only had the opportunity to fish it once. This year I didn't join which was a shame as they have some decent waters
