Pleased to hear you've got your mojo back. I have to admit since quitting the guiding I'm fishing more than ever and loving it more than ever.
I'm with you on Oct/Nov fishing probably as there is more chance of a rising fish but there is something about a cold, crisp morning and catching the first fish of the day. That moment keeps me warm for a long time even if the water is freezing!

Well I ventured out this morning... although ‘only’ 28 on the river gauge it was pushing through, still carrying a fair bit of colour... first time this season where it had the dark foreboding feel to the water. I’d forgotten how tiring it is wading up against a heavy flow,.... feels like I’ve done a 10 mile walk. It was annoyingly windy- gusting go over 30mph- which made nymphing tricky... it wasn’t the right conditions for duo and it was blowing the nylon ‘euro’ leader all over the place, even when held just above the water... I tried laying the nylon and sighter on the surface but couldn’t get a quick enough sink rate with the heavy flow... still, picked up 4 nice fish and bumped a couple... gawd knows how many I missed with the leader buffeting about. If it doesn’t rain too much tomorrow it should be perfect Sunday, and the forecast is currently only for light winds... hurrah... I may even head to the Frome and hunt for one of the ‘big girls’... Nice to be out
