Just put down the March issue of T&S and it has a great articale by Mike Weaver in it.
All about West country flies and there roots.
Worth a read.

This months edition also has a Devon theme with Jon Beer fishing some of the Crediton Club waters too.

A nice little sequence of articles... it always amuses me that Mike was (still is?) very closely connected with the tourist board... because, in truth, a better advertiser for West Country fishing you couldn't hope to invent!
"In Pursuit of Wild Trout" has long held pride of place on my bookshelf... an especially good read on winter evenings when the real season's still a couple of months off...

Hi Theo,
nice to have you here.
Are you coming down to Devon this year?

Thanks Pete - nice to be here on a site that looks to have a lot of potential too. I should probably have started a self-introduction thread, but hey, I'm here now Yes, I'll be down this year if I can: the parents-in-law have moved to Somerset, so that's quite a good jumping-off point for the Devon rivers, as well as one or two new secret spots in their area... Out of interest (and well off-topic) do you know when the new-look WRT passport scheme guide and vouchers will be available? I've ordered a booklet, and have been keeping an eye on the site, but nothing new yet... my 2wt is getting twitchy! Theo

Hi Theo
we are a small but friendly band and my hope is that the site grows so that fishermen either locally or travelling down can get an idea of how the river they are visiting is fishing.
I met up with Toby from WRT last week and think the books are not that far off. A few new beats too...

Is it just me, or is devon really some 15hrs behind the times? I've just posted a new thread and it comes out as 2.25pm- as does the time at the top of the page. My computer and my tummy both think its 19.25pm- ie bedtime!

Paul, its a bit like being on the river and you look at your watch and the time isn't want you thought it was...in this case it is slower rather than faster

Paul,
Devon is not 15 hrs behind the times. It's 15years (thank god) Thats why we live here.
Tight lines,
Terry

When I'm signed in the time is right because it is set to GMT in my profile When viewing as a guest it is 5 hrs ahead for me, I think our leader needs to set the forum to GMT Andy

Our esteeemed leader still reads in Latin and doesn't use a watch; merely the angle of the sun

GN, I have moved on from latin and even have one of those new fangled abacus things... I had a quick look at the settings and you can only set the time for members who are logged on...I have amazed myself that I managed to find this out single handed
