Please excuse the rather blatant plug but for any new members of the club ( or anyone thinking of joining) I'm going to try and make a few basic YouTube videos of the various beats that the club has available. Nothing fancy but for those who haven't had the benefit of the clubs River walks they might be useful. Just search Crediton Fly Fishing Club and they should come up. First one posted Sunday, more to follow time/work permitting.

What a great idea Halfstoned!
To save anyone having to search on YouTube, here's the first one and I look forward to seeing some more too.

Spoiler alert, didn't catch a thing so please feel free to ignore. I will get back to the Creedy when the season starts properly, just practicing at the moment.

I’m really enjoying these Chris, thanks for taking the trouble to post. What line or lines are you using? looks like it could be a thistle down, if so what do you reckon. Terry

Thanks to Terry and treefella for the encouragement, still getting the hang of the filming ( lots of shots with the camera facing straight down, so quite literally "footage") and the editing is painfully slow on our old laptop but its fun to muck about with. Looking forward to getting some better shots of fish taking dries. Well spotted on the line Terry it is indeed the thistledown. I went for the new brook 1 to 4 weight version and i'm not sure how well it fits my 3 weight, wondering if I should have opted for the 2 to 5 weight version. Ofcourse it might just be that I haven't cast a line for 6 months! Perhaps it will grow on me, thinking of getting a 2 weight to try it with ( rubbish excuse for another rod purchase but who cares). More videos when the weather warms up a bit ( gardening duties this weekend).

I’ve had the original 2 to 5 weight for a few years now and to be honest although it works OK on my 2, 3 and 4 weights I think it is a compromise and really prefer a standard weight forward on all the rods. I have an original Snowbee prestige 2 weight in a 9 footer of which you are more than welcome to try before you buy. I very rarely us it so you could loan it long term. Maybe when we can we could meet up somewhere for a fish. Gardening duties for me as well for the week end.

Sounds like a plan Terry, ever since reading Mike's book I've been promising myself that I would fish the Cherry brook and to my shame I still haven't managed it in 30 years so perhaps we could meet there? I think I will take my Barrio line next session and see how that compares. Cooking lunch today and so far I've seen Ldos, midges, stone flies and Grannom all land on the cars outside ( only a few hundred yards from the Yeo here) do you ever get the feeling someone is taking the p#ss??

I've been trying to get my hands on a Barrio Smallstream line but Mike's too popular: completely sold out so far this year! Will be making do with my Snowbee delicate presentation #3 and #4 lines which are very good, even with my casting. This year I've needle-knotted furled leaders to each which will hopefully result in better performance overall.

I think Mike Barrio has a big supply problem as the company who produces his lines have had issues. Pity because I’m a big fan of his lines. I recently acquired a couple of lines from John Norris and so far am very pleased. At £14.99 you can’t really complain. I may be an OAP and a bit tight 😂 but I cannot bring myself to pay around a hundred quid for a RIO to have it wrapped in Dartmoor gorse. What the hell has happened to our weather 😒

Great Vids.
Fished Downstream of the Creedy/Yeo junction recently. Farmer on North bank has removed most trees downstream of junction (as per those up the Creedy a while ago), though some stumps remain and may come back. Have to say though this stretch is now in great condition, loads of runs, pools, water level is good and clean. Still saw a Kingfisher and landed my first two fish on a streamer.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Hi Ben I downloaded Davinci Resolve but it was painfully slow on my old laptop. In the end I just used the free one that comes with Windows 10. Its very limited but that suits me fine ( keep it simple stupid) just waiting on the weather to pick up a bit to do some more. It does effect your fishing a bit but not as much as I expected.

You're right there, Chris. I find taking the Go Pro is the kiss of death for fishing! It's also got a habit of running out of battery or mysteriously turning off just when you do get some action!

Yes I've bought a spare battery but might need half a dozen for a full day!! Mine also seems to have a habit of turning itself off for no reason, I have ordered a new sd card as apparently this can cause issues? We will see.

Another good video Chris, thanks again. That’s what a WBT looks like. You did very well considering the bloody awful conditions we have at the moment. I can hear my family hissing at me but roll on a low pressure system with plenty of rain.

Hi folks, here's the latest attempt! I'm aware that I might be in danger of always bemoaning the conditions so let's hope for some better weather in May/June so I can start to show these rivers in a better light. School boy error on my part this time as once again the best of the fishing ( some fish did actually start rising) happened after the battery ran out and I'd forgotten to charge the spare one😠 the best fish of the day took an olive sparkle dun in the bridge pool but I had to make do with a picture on my phone. Somehow I managed to take the picture from my phone and add it to the end of the video, wonders will never cease!
