Hey Richard.... Great to see you on the forum. Sry no help on Burrator, popped down one afternoon last year, very early season... my one and only ever outing on still waters.... safe to say I didn't exactly cover myself in glory, from memory it was about 3-5C with a steady wind.... a local regular in the fishing hut, wished me luck and said in a friendly manner you'll need it today... the wise course would have been to leave at that point... but I was never that bright

Welcome on board Richard. I fished Burrator a few weeks back and with the current level being well done it does mean that much more bank space is available. I don't really know the reservoir that well but fished the bank about half a mile down from the ticket office. Parked by a gate and walked down a hundred yards through a wooded area. Had access to the whole bank and was surprised to see it completely devoid of anglers. Mind you it was also completely devoid of fish. Might give it another go when we loose this Easterly wind. Terry. p.s. We are all very friendly on this forum providing you don't like cormorants.

Paul Hi Paul Of course I did 😀 actually I went with the new battenkill as orvis haven't any spare spools for the access so don't want to be hunting down spools on eBay hence plumped for the new battenkill drag Just waiting for it to be delivered I bought the III and got £25 off with a voucher can't complain Looking forward to matching it up with the recon Rich

Good afternoon all.
My name is John, Devon resident for 25+ years and a fly fisher for a little longer than that. The amount of time I have spent on the rivers has varied a lot over the years owing to the constraints of family life and gainful employment. I have caught a few sea-trout and salmon on fly on a couple of trips to Scotland before the growing family meant that holidays were spent more in sunny climes with beaches etc. Since then I have had the occasional salmon from the Dart and most years a sea-trout or two. As our two boys grew up I took them to some of the stillwaters locally, managing to get them quite interested. About 10 years ago I saw a certain Mr Tyjas doing a flycasting demo at the Devon County Show. He seemed to have a bit of a lull in getting anyone to step up and have a go so I came forward and had an intense 30 minutes of my casting technique being knocked into shape. The benefits were immediate. Thank you again Mr T. My river fishing for brownies has been a bit patchy until the last couple of seasons. Joined Crediton FFC last year and have been working on the small-stream stuff (which I should have started on years ago!) with modest success. Had a guided day on the Taw with Duncan at the Fox in June...a further leap in reading the river and putting the flies in the right place (watch out for his bone-crushing handshake though!). I found this forum earlier in the year and have finally got round to joining. Looking forward to exchange of ideas, river info and meeting other enthusiasts of all range of skills.
John

Hi all, I've fished in Devon all my life. I've lurked a bit here but think I should come out. I fish mainly for Salmon and Sea Trout but also for Brownies and occasionally Bass. I fish the Exe and the Taw, occasionally the Torridge, often in Scotland but my favourite is the Mole.
