Hi names Ash fairly new to fly fishing on rivers started last season with a guided trip from Duncan on the Inny which was an imense day and fondly remembered but I've fly fished for about 18 years now mainly small still waters and recently moved onto reservoirs and now rivers also, I enjoy all as much as each other and for me it's all about getting out the house and just being close to nature and relaxing th fish are just a bonus. Currently live in Bodmin so mainly fly fish on the camel and Inny and occasionally fowey, yet to try salmon fishing but I'm sure I will in the next couple years. Cheers

Evening. Seeing as the stretch of the River Exe I fish seems to still be too high for me to fish comfortably I’m fishing on the internet and found this forum. I’m a member of Tiverton Fly Fishing Association and a confirmed addict despite only starting fly fishing this year! So hi! Paul

Evening Paul, welcome to the forum, next best thing to actually fishing is talking about fishing. I have found this forum very friendly and useful so as a " new " fly fisher feel free to ask any questions, I've learnt a lot from the experts on here.

Hi... I’m new to the board. A little about me- now live in Payhembury and have lived in Devon for the last 20 years
I have fly fished in earnest for the last 12 years and thoroughly enjoy the challenging side of the sport and beautiful locations it takes us including the higher tarns in Cumbria, Yorkshire and wharfe, Scottish lochs, and Elan Valley rivers. More locally I love to fish on Exmoor Barle, Exe and Dartmoor’s East and West Darts and Culm and Upper Teign and also much of SWLT.
We are almost spoilt for choice in our West Country and looking forward to exploring and sharing more this season!
Thanks, Dil

Hello my name is Steve and live in Newton Poppleford. I have only been fishing for four years after being accepted in the ottery fly club. I am self taught (with hindsight a bad idea) and consider myself a novice. My skill set is limited especially with regards to casting....having said that I do catch trout...what I lack in technique i make up for in enthusiasm and sheer persistence.
My reasons for joining the forum are two fold. Firstly to tap into the vast knowledge i have been reading as a guest member and secondly to ultimately become a more proficient angler.
I have only ever fished the river Otter and a few still waters. I intend to rectify that this year by getting on the West country passport scheme....the water up on the moors looks beautiful in the perfect surroundings...can't wait.
Regards
Steve B

Welcome aboard sanctuuary67.
You have come to the right place as there are some experts on the Otter who post here who I am sure will be more than willing to help and please just shoot any questions you might have, there is always someone willing to help.

Hey sanctuary.. I joined Ottery fly club last season and would be happy to meet up. I ain’t saying I’m any expert caster but I can generally put it where needed and had a pretty good first season on the Otter; I’d be happy to meet up once the season gets going. I’m rubbish at remembering to arrange to meet people though, so feel free to pm me to arrange to meet up when things warm up and bit... I’m just down the road in Branscombe so can do after work easily enough. Cheers

Hi Sanctuary, Welcome to the Forum. As Pete said, there are a few of us here fishing on the Otter. Whilst I would not consider myself anything like an expert, I would be happy to share an evening with you almost on your doorstep as I am lucky enough to have a rod on the Syndicate water between Newton Poppleford and Colaton Raleigh. Hope to meet up when the season gets properly under way........just send a pm.
