Lady luck seems to be riding with me at the moment. One from yesterday, an old warrior that was weighed at 17b.

Thanks Boisker, he is a little lean and if it full condition he might well have topped 20lb. We fished 3 rivers and my buddy also had a 5lb grilse a few hours before. It was a really cool day.

Nice one Pete, the smile says it all, was it a Hobnob or M&M moment?

I've been off the grid for a week and wondered if anyone is hearing of many salmon being caught?

Yep - A couple on Friday when the river was still a bit high including a 13lber from just below Junction by one of the syndicate chaps and a decent number yesterday when the water was ideal at 0.7 on the Umberleigh gauge. Several small grilse but also a few 7-10lb fish too. One rod at Kingford had a 7lb fish and 3 sea trout, another an 8lb hen from below Junction and another had a 4lb grilse and a 9lb fish. A 12lb sea trout came off the Mole 10 days ago and quite a few 3lb+ sea trout have been encountered since then. Obviously none were caught by me as, as usual, I have had no chance to get out!
Glad you are back on the radar mate.

Glad you are back on the radar mate. Mark, thought you'd like to know that Tom who works at the Fox had his second ever sea trout on Weds that weighed in a 9 1/4lb. This beats his other sea trout of 8 3/4lb by a little bit! Lewis also had a salmon come off yesterday morning before he went to work. He had to meet his guests and decided on 3 more casts before he went to the hotel. Second cast and had a huge take, he says it felt a hefty fish too. Would have made him late for work if he'd landed it but one great story! Huge kudos and really, really pleased for him. Just working on getting his lottery numbers for Saturday now! Pete

That is wonderful news. Good old Tom - only caught two sea trout in his life and both bigger than anything I have caught in 33 years! I am very pleased for him - jab him in the ribs for me and tell him well done!
Pleased to hear Lewis is prioritising work before glory as usual!
I have an idea about a forum sea trout adventure next year - remind me to run it past you when you next speak to me. It will make a good article too, assuming folk are up for it.

I saw the photos and was thrilled to tell Tom he'd actually caught a salmon, it was fantastic to see his face when I showed him the differences between a salmon and a sea trout. Even more pleased for him now. I think Lewis has caught a little bit of the salmon bug which is really cool, nothing like seeing someone who is about to spend the day on the river working get an hour or two in for himself. Would love to hear a ST adventure, after everything I am determined to help fishing friendships form via this forum or anywhere else too.
