There has been a lot of excellent work been done via the Taw Rivers Improvement Project (TRIP) over the last few years easing access for salmon on the Taw and Mole. A lot has been done on the sections above the Junction of the Mole and the last couple have seasons it has really felt there have been more fish about and I fish the river with a lot more confidence than I ever have. I popped out for a couple of hours this morning with my wife and got lucky!

Nice one, Pete. Hope you get a few more this season. Thinking on it, that's not one Emma caught is it?

Right... The 7wt is coming with me on the 19th and we'll see if his little brother is swimming round that pool. Good angling sir.

Thanks Yeoman, Emma made a couple of casts in the pool and as it was a birthday she let me have a pop. Second cast and it all happened, a pretty cool present!
Mojo, yup, it was a perfect M & M moment.
Boisker, everything is relevant and you weren't fishing for salmon so you weren't going to catch one but caught some fish in rivers that have been pretty tough so kudos too!
Jezney, they have been seen on some of the other beats too. It is great to see fish up our way this early on.

Some much needed rain and we could do with a little bit more too. There was a small rise on Saturday and we saw running fish here's hoping more of the same. Game on!

Many thanks Rob, fingers crossed for some more. Think you'll know where that was from!
I was working yesterday and we saw one running but that was it, had all seasons in one day yesterday.

Mark, had a swing with Alex J late this afternoon but no signs of anything on 9. River has dropped right back already but we saw something on 5 when we went for a quick look.

Cracking fish... almost gleams as much as your Cheshire cat grin! Nice one Pete, here's hoping the wee spate has brought a few up the Tamar by the time my weekend leave pass kicks in!

Tamar is only about 6" above summer lows (and they were *low* last year) so I was being blindly optimistic today - but reasoned that without a fly in the water you won't get any fish... Managed three browns of 20 - 30 cm... all took an orange, black and yellow Cascade. Saw one decent sea trout - just as it saw me and melted away. May well be burning some midnight oil tonight. Cheers
