Have not been out for a while. Anyone been on the new river yet? Yes, I visited the Yeo at Lapford this week. Congratulations to the trustees and committee for aquiring such a lovely stretch of new water for the club (and to Mo for the great map !). I had eleven trout, all on dry fly, with four at 10 ins and the best at 12 ins (photo). However, be aware that at present, amongst the cattle which can roam both banks, there is a rather large and muscular bull. I know they are supposed to be docile when with cows, but I preferred to stay in the river and move briskly past the cattle-drinks !

Had what is probably my last session on the golf course stretch yesterday pm. Struggled for ages until I put on a daddy and then proceeded to pull out multiple large fish, more than the whole season put together. Top tip people, don't go to the river without some big ol daddies.

My favourite for the end of the season is a blowfly/bluebottle, that said I was out on the Yeo at Salmonhutch on Friday and there was a good hatch of small light duns, 8 fish up to 12" in a couple of hours, but if you want big fish go with Rubbles advice and go big if there is nothing hatching.

Last day for BT this year, went to the Culm and fished the bottom stretch, nothing much moving, tried Royal Stimulators, hatching caddis and various para duns but the Culm was being its usual fickle self. After a nice cheddar and pickle sarnie for lunch I approached one of my favourite pools that has rewarded me with some good fish up to 19"over the years. Put on a dry Daddy and flicked out, as it came down the foam line into a patch of sunlight a large head appeared and sucked it down, 5mins later I measured it at 21", my largest of the season and a high note to end on.

Anyone know if we are able to fish for grayling on the exe this year? I still haven't put my 11 footer to good use yet. Is there and extension to the season on the Exe this year? I guess the two might be related?

I think that there is an extension to mid October so will not be available until after then.
