Mark here from South Devon. I took up fly fishing again after a 30 year break a couple of years ago. I mostly fish Kennick, Wimbleball, Roadford and Fernworthy as well as the salt for bass during July and Aug but want to get into the river trout this year. My local is the Teign so will be giving the upper river a go for sure, but may try for the Sea Trout on the lower reaches at some point. I also hope to give the grayling a go - I've never caught one (born and raised in Ireland where they don't exist). Hopefully some of you helpful people can point me in the right direction!

A very warm welcome Mark, I look forward to hearing how you get on this coming season.
As I am sure you are already aware, the Exe and Tamar systems are the best place to hunt out some grayling.
Good luck!

Hi,My name is Pete, I have recently moved to near bye Tiverton. Have fished for years on and off since a boy, have joined Crediton club and looking forward to some new fishing experiences.I am slowly finding my way round all the new places. Have already been out to the Taw and Lapford Yeo but blanked each time.Never saw a fish. Yes it's early and things can only get better! I did manage a couple down the local stream so have felt that lovely wiggle and I'm hooked. Looking forward to seeing how others fair..tight lines all

Hi all,
Finally managed to move to the Dartmoor area after years of trying. Fished a number of rivers down here over the years and looking forward to being able to amble out and cast a line a lot more now. I also love the wild upland reservois and lakes, Burrator has seen me haunting its shores during the closed season and while there is no water in the rivers. Just joined a club for the first time and am waiting for some rain (like everyone I suppose) so I can start to learn the beats.
Cheers
Gary

Welcome Gary, I’m sure you won’t regret the move. Let’s hope we have a good season and we get some rain soon. Terry

Never really paid much attention to the weather, just opened the front door in the morning and grabbed a waterproof if needed. I am now slowly becoming obsessive over it and the family are fed up with my compulsion to drive anywhere via a bridge so I can suck my teeth and mutter about the lack of rain.......

Greetings all, I'm Aidan, a recently returning expat (14 years spent chasing the Dutch Pike and Perch as well a drop of infosec work.) As a lad I used to fly fish the Torridge and Tamar as well as Roadford, Kennick, Tavy and plenty of coarse fishing mostly Carp stalking. I'll be looking to catch some Pike this autumn and winter. I also hope to volunteer some habitat or fisheries work come the new year, as I firmly believe anglers need to be the guardians of waterways and stocks. So feel free to give me a shout if you know of a worthwhile project (North Devon based Holsworthy area) in that regard, and if not I'll see you bankside and wish you all tight lines.

Hi there, sorry I missed this topic when I registered the other day. My name is Fred and I have been a fly fisher since 1967! I sort of "followed" Chris Matthews to here whose videos I watch on Youtube. I live in Angus, NE Scotland and mainly fish the small local rivers with the odd visit farther afield. I used to be a fairly regular visitor to NZ during our dreary winter months, but sadly an ‘unnamed virus’ of ‘unknown origin’ has put paid to that for the foreseeable future.
I was just thinking the other day that the south west is one area of the UK I have never visited, you guys certainly appear to have a lot of rivers to choose from and from what I can see the fishing is very good value.
I don’t expect I’ll have a huge amount to offer your forum, but I will pop in from time to time if you can put up with a cantankerous old Scot.
Cheers
Fred

Hi, My name is Adam, I live on the Devon/Somerset border. I am new to fly fishing having sea fished for years. So far no fish on the bank, but that has not dampened my enthusiasm. I hope to get some hints and tips off this great resource. Hopefully leading to me posting a catch report lol

Hi Adam, welcome to the board. There are plenty of experienced anglers who are members of the board who I'm sure will be more than willing to give you some help and advice.
Where are you fishing?

Hi , Just joined the forum ! Dont know how I have missed this for so many years. Favourite rivers are on the Duchy fishery with the Cherrybrook being probably my favourite and had a great session yesterday in fact. Although I now live in Wiltshire I grew up on cornwall/devon border . Just thought I would say a quick hello Rich
